Before lighting
You’ll be tempted as we are to light your candle immediately, however, make sure it is warmed up a little beforehand once you’ve taken it out of the box. If the wax is too cold, it can affect the burn and cause the wax to tunnel
Ideal wick length is 1/4inch (6mm) before lighting for a clean and even burn, and prevent an unruly flame, therefore don’t be shy to trim the wick when needed
Remove any trimmings or debris from the wax surface to prevent uneven burning
Place your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from direct-drafts which can cause black markings on the vessel or a rapid uneven burn; Keep the candle on a heat-resistant surface. ALWAYS KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS
Lighting your candle
You’ll be tempted as we are to light your candle immediately, however, make sure it is warmed up a little beforehand once you’ve taken it out of the box. If the wax is too cold, it can affect the burn and cause the wax to tunnel.
Aim for 3-4 hours per burn to prevent tunnelling and to achieve an even wax pool; Avoid short burns as this can add to the tunnelling effect
DO NOT burn your candle for more than 4 hours at any time. Extinguish and allow to cool thoroughly before relighting
Extinguishing & Relighting
Gently blowing, or using a snuffer, to extinguish your candle is ideal. Avoid using a lid or forcefully blowing to prevent wax spluttering!
Once extinguish, ensure the wick is upright and centered before relighting
Troubleshooting
Address using a wick trimmer to remove excess wax around your candle’s edge, allowing the entire surface to melt on the next burn
Trim the wick and avoid placing your candle in draft areas to minimize production of soot
